Singapore into table tennis final
Singapore are guaranteed their first Olympic medal since 1960 after beating South Korea to reach the final of the women's table tennis team event.
Feng Tianwei, who, like the rest of the Singapore team, is an import from China, won both her singles matches to help them clinch a tense 3-2 victory.
Singapore face favourites China in the final after they thumped Hong Kong 3-0.
"For us to get to the final, we feel like we have already done really well," said Feng's team-mate Li Jia Wei.
Tan Howe Liang's weightlifting silver in Rome was Singapore's only previous Olympic medal.

Their table tennis coach Liu Guodong said: "I feel very honoured. I've been in Singapore for just over two years and can help it get an Olympic medal, at least a silver, for the first time in 48 years."
Feng, who got Singapore off to a winning start in the first match of the tie, held her nerve to beat Park Mi-Young in the deciding rubber and send the second seeds through.
"In a battle like that, everyone is nervous," said Feng. "So if you can just keep it cool then you have got an advantage."
China did not drop a game on their way to victory, with Yining Zhang and Yue Guo winning their singles matches before Zhang teamed up with Nan Wang to triumph in the doubles and seal their success.
Following their loss, South Korea will play in the semi-finals of the bronze medal competition and face the United States, who beat Romania 3-1 earlier on Friday.
Japan, who beat Austria 3-0, will play Hong Kong.
In the first round of the men's bronze medal competition, Hong Kong eliminated Taiwan and will play the losers of the China-South Korea tie. Austria saw off Croatia and will play either Japan or Germany.
